WHAT WAS IT LIKE GROWING UP IN YOUR HOMETOWN? Moreno Valley was a cool place to grow up in because the mountains and the beaches are both only a 45 minute drive. The skate scene is also rad, so I was able to experience a diverse range of riding styles and techniques. Being exposed to all that ripping was definitely a great upbringing!

DOES MORENO VALLEY HAVE A SKI/SNOWBOARD SCENE? Yeah! Big Bear, Mt. High, and Snow Valley are all no more than an hour from home. Mammoth and June Mountain are also only about a four hour drive. Bear is my favorite, but it's been getting kinda "scenesterish."

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO WINTER PARK? Came on vacation and never left!

 

WITH PARKS LIKE THE RAIL YARD AND DARK TERRITORY, WHAT DO YOU THINK IS NEXT FOR THE YOUNG GUNS? Triple corks? Yikes!

WHAT'S ON THE HORIZON FOR YOU IN REGARD TO YOUR SNOWBOARDING? Tons of Denver trips, and some unique features up at Berthoud.

WHAT'S YOUR SET-UP?
1. Bindings: Tech 9 Teams
2. Boots: Northwave
3. Boards: K2 WWW
4. Goggles: Cheapo sunnies, or Electric goggs if it's a blizzard
5. Pants, jacket, gloves: Grenade pantalones and mitts, along with thrift store hoodies and flannels

BEFORE YOU HIT A TRICK, HOW DO YOU PREPARE YOURSELF PSYCHOLOGICALLY? I Just relax. I mean, fear and adrenaline are great motivators. I love scaring myself, but at the same time you have to find your happy medium or you'll end up killing yourself.

BACKCOUNTRY IS BEAUTIFUL BUT CAN BE STUPID SCARY. ANY WORDS OF ADVICE FOR THOSE WHO ARE THINKING ABOUT THE JOURNEY? Have an experienced friend or guide take you out the first few times. And never ever, even if experienced, go into the backcountry alone.
