DARK TERRITORY – LARGE

Dark Territory provides a controlled-accessed section of the Rail Yard® for those who are on top of their game! Dark Territory is located in lower Rail Yard® and includes the largest and most technical features in our park system. A separate pass is required to access this area. To obtain a pass for the first time, one must watch a short video and sign an additional waiver.

The goal of Dark Territory is to offer the largest features of our Park to those who are willing to take an extra step to increase their awareness of Terrain Park safety and etiquette.

The History
A Dark Territory is an area along the rail road system in which the traffic is controlled by verbal or written authority. Trains are not protected by any technical signaling or direct communication system. In these areas, engineers must depend on those that came before them....and stake their lives on everybody’s discipline to keep the area safe. 

Dark Territories are free of the traffic that engineers typically experience on high volume routes throughout the nation. These areas are ruled by strict guidelines of conduct, etiquette, and honor. When the rules are not followed, derailments or head-on collisions become harsh realities – lives, equipment, and cargo are at stake.

Winter Park’s Dark Territory is guided by similar rules of conduct, etiquette and honor. Should you choose to enjoy this area, you are expected to take additional steps to ensure everyone’s safety, as well as your own.

The Program
To get your Dark Territory pass for the FIRST YEAR, you will need to do the following:

• Attend an orientation at Showcase Snowboard Shop at the base of Winter Park Resort beginning November 14 through April 7. The video will take approximately 20 minutes
• Sign Dark Territory Liability form
• Riders under 18 years of age must have a parent, or LEGAL guardian, sign the waiver
• FIRST YEAR Dark Territory pass costs $20 dollars, payable at the time of issue
• Replacement passes will cost $10
• The pass is valid for the 09/10 season
• Dark Territory is open to Freeriders 10 years and older
  

TO RENEW YOUR PASS EACH FOLLOWING YEAR, fill-out/sign the waiver and pay $10. SIMPLE. You can do it at the same time you renew your season pass. Returning Dark Territory pass holders DO NOT have to watch the video and will be issued ONE PASS for Dark Territory and Lift Access.
